If you can organise a driver and enough organised helpers on the day of the move,  there are many truck hire companies with a network of locations all across Australia, where you can hire a truck for your move.  

For short trips, 24 hours is generally sufficient hire time.  Some truck hire companies offer large discounts for truck hire during the weekdays.

Check that your driver has the correct Drivers Licence to drive the truck you choose.  A person with a standard Drivers Licence can drive up to a 3 ton truck, but some experience in driving large vehicles is recommended.  It is also recommended to take out adequate insurance in case damage is caused to the truck.  Without insurance it may end up being an expensive move.  You will need to make a decision on which level of insurance you wish to take out. It is possible to cover all mishaps in the premium.

Some truck hire companies will allow a one way drive to drop off the truck at another location for an extra cost.  You will need to advise the hire company the length of time you will have the truck, and the drop off location to obtain a quote.

Some hire companies have road side assistance for your convenience.  Consider if you need GPS navigation assistance.
